Summary

This position assists the chefs in all basic food preparation both in banquets and a la carte service, performs opening and closing kitchen duties, shift reports, inventory and ordering.

Responsibilities
  • Performs daily production and preparation of food for
  • Supervises back of house kitchen staffbanquets and a la carte
  • Performs administrative duties including shift reports
  • Responsible for organizing small teams so that meals go out on time and work areas remain clean and orderly
  • Oversees preparation, cooking and presentation of meals in a specific venue
  • Directs staff in preparing, cooking and presenting culinary dishes and enforcing health and hygiene standards in the kitchen
  • Maintains thorough cleanliness and sanitation of work area; other cleaning as necessary
  • Follow all policies, procedures and service standards
  • Performs inventory duties
  • Communicate effectively with other team members in order to ensure accurate delivery of food and beverages to kitchen and maintain day-to-day operations of the outlet
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
  • 3 years in a professional kitchen with 6 months in a lead cook (First Cook) role or formal kitchen training and degree from an accredited culinary school, apprenticeship or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of sauces, soups, kitchen, preferred
  • Knowledge of Kronos and Stratton Warren, preferred
  • 6 months of supervisory experience preferred in a restaurant/food outlet, preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, food safety and knife skills
  • Food Hander Card required upon hire
  • Knowledge of food
  • Must be able to stand/walk for approximately 8 to 10 hours in a hot environment
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
