Senior Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our small, independent and collaborative engineering team. You will be focused on architecting massively scalable and reliable systems. As an early stage contributor, you'll use a variety of technologies and development practices to build a pioneering mobile platform used and viewed by hundreds of millions of people.

• Projects include real time data synchronization, identity management, large scale data processing frameworks, video streaming, and service endpoints for web, embedded and mobile clients
• Develop high quality, highly available systems within a micro-service-oriented architecture
• Write clear, maintainable and performant code
• Diagnose problems which can only arise in a complex distributed environment
• Work cross functionally with Product Marketing, DevOps and Integration Engineering

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
• Solid understanding of multiple programming languages (e.g., Scala, Java, C/C++, Python, Go) Willing to learn Scala & Go if needed.
• Experience designing, building and debugging high quality distributed systems or backend services
• Demonstrated JVM experience
• Familiarity with one or more common web frameworks such as the Flask
• Comfortable using basic cryptographic techniques and security protocols in a Linux-based systems
• Experience building cloud applications (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform)
