The Wikimedia Foundation operates some of the largest collaboratively edited reference projects in the world, including Wikipedia, a top-ten internet property.
- Perform day-to-day operational tasks and some DevOps(deployment, maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting) on many aspects of Wikimedia’s Search & Maps infrastructure
- Implement and utilize configuration management and deployment tools (Mostly Puppet)
- Incident response and diagnosis of system outages or alerts
- Having deployed largely distributed highly available Linux services supporting millions of users for at least 5+ years
- Experience with the use, maintenance and configuration of monitoring and metrics infrastructure (ganglia, nagios, icinga, graphite, grafana, etc.)
- Comfortable with systems automation software (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc)
- Comfort with shell and scripting languages used in an operations engineering context (Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.)
- Load testing and capacity assessments
Pluses
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr or similar projects
- Previous experience managing and tuning large scale Java applications
- Having worked with large scale open communities
