General Manager
Welch's
(Concord, Massachusetts)- Develop and guide the organization's shelf stable objectives, goals and strategies. Identify opportunities to drive revenue, margin and profit growth.
- Assess the element of risk to manage a balanced and funded portfolio of products.
- Manage a distinct Stage Gate approach with the appropriate processes, tools, and metrics to support new opportunities.
- Lead cross-functional, multi-market teams to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.
- Assess and prioritize business initiatives in an environment of rapid change. Ensure necessary resources for business initiatives.
- With their internal marketing services partner, champion the integrated communications process to drive exceptional consumer communication.
- Provide management, coaching, and professional guidance to direct reports with a focus on developing functional, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Exceptional marketing skills include brand marketing, strategic planning, project management, market analysis, research planning, portfolio management and integrated communication.
- Superior ability to create a clear and compelling vision.
- Working as a general manager, the ability to demonstrate the ability to develop and commercialize products that leverage the organization's core strengths and capabilities.
- Proven ability to grow a business that balances the need to grow revenue and profit while establishing or reinforcing the brand.
- Excellent managerial and coaching skills, including the ability to develop talent and leadership for the Marketing department.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with all levels of management, within marketing and with cross-functional partners.
- Ability to clearly interpret external forces and trends, and then to develop strategies and initiatives to take advantage of opportunities on a timely basis.
- The energy, drive and influencing skills to successfully commercialize projects even when significant hurdles are presented.
- The ability to use world-class process to help drive decision making but use agility and speed to lead others through process.
- Strong financial skills that include managing the P&L, pricing, COGS, margins, budgets, cash flow, and capital investments.
- The ideal candidate will have started in a major consumer products company, which tends to provide classic training and discipline.
- It is ideal to also have worked in a smaller company that requires a more hands-on and entrepreneurial approach.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- This role requires an executive whose marketing skills include brand marketing, strategic planning, project management, market analysis, research planning, portfolio management and marketing communication.
- Approximately 10 years of experience in consumer products with a proven track record of bringing profitable products to market. Food and/or beverage work is ideal but not required.
- Experience managing others for 5+ years.
- An undergraduate degree is required, with an MBA or advanced degree being desirable.
