Summary

Walmart Technology operates the largest retail technology systems in the world, and we’re launching a corporate startup in our new engineering center in Reston. We’re looking for java services engineers to join a team focused on rebuilding our core retail technology systems that serve 200M+ customers a week. We are still small, and looking to grow over 10x in the next 12 to 24 months

Solving big technology and scale issues for the world’s largest retailer

Ideal Candidate

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years experience in computer programming, software development or related field OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 computer programming, software development or related field.
* Is an engineering practitioner with a passion for technology
* Is versatile and eager to tackle complex problems
* Is agile, detailed oriented, and driven to engineer awesome solutions
* Is a self-starter and values the success of the team
* Exhibits pride and ownership in the quality work they deliver
* 3 years hands-on programming experience in Java technology stack
* 4 year experience developing web services or distributed, messaging and event-based systems
* 3 year experience with database management systems
* 3 years experience in a Unix/Linux environment
* 3 years experience in agile delivery, especially Scrum, Kanban or Scrumban as well as DevOps.
* Demonstrated success in distributed systems, especially REST based services
* Strong API design, development and management
* Enthusiasm, curiosity, energy, perseverance and the desire to solve big problems
* Strong knowledge in software development theory and practice
* A product development agile mindset
* Experience with container technologies like Dockers
* Strong knowledge of security standards, practices, and architecture
