- Lead technology projects and programs to successful completion, on time, on budget
- Partner with stakeholders (internal and external to Optum) to ensure proper strategy, planning, alignment, integration and visibility
- Manage project or program financials
- Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business
- Translate complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
- Managing coordination of groups engaged in project work
- Foster and encourage teamwork and collaborative environment
- Team development and mentoring in support of their roles
- Engage cross functional teams supporting implementation project
- Detailed project planning and control activities including but not limited to:
- SharePoint Documentation management; Status and project documentation
- Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan and schedule
- Project schedule creation, review, monitoring, tracking, and maintenance
- Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan
- Task assignment, tracking, progress and performance evaluation
- Scope definition and management
- Communication Management
- Define project governance structure and procedures – Decision makers
- Create project organization diagram
- Detailed Status, Summary and Executive reporting
- Written and verbal status delivery
- Meetings audience, content and cadence
- Issue and Risk Management
- Recording and managing project issues
- Escalation and governance
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher is required
- 10+ years of experience leading cross-application IT projects or programs successfully
- 2+ years of experience in developing products using Agile delivery techniques (e.g. Scrum)
- Career experience in managing delivery of technology projects
- Very strong understanding of distributed technologies & architecture
- Successful IT Management track record in large matrix organization(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to lead and influence large matrix teams both on and off-shore
- Graduate degree
- Experience in successfully managing multiple programs/projects simultaneously
- PMP or PMI formal training and certification is highly desired
- Experience building relationships, leading and mentoring program and project managers
- 7+ years technical experience in one or more aspects of Information Systems Development or Business / Information Systems areas
