Vice President of Engineering

Umbel is a Customer Data Platform that empowers marketers to unify and access their own customer data.

• Manage, coach, and mentor a rapidly growing team of 15+ front end, back end, and integrations engineers
• Successfully scale our team, which is set to more than double over the next 9 months
• Lead our Engineering recruiting charge by acting as an evangelist and improving the hiring processes
• Be a cultural leader for our Engineering team
• Work with our Chief Data Scientist to achieve groundbreaking R&D and architectural improvements
• Oversee and execute multiple projects across the entire stack while maintaining stability, quality, and scalability
• Work closely with our Product team to manage and prioritize requirements, balancing short-term and long-term needs effectively
• Hone our agile development methodologies and team throughput
• Drive technical performance improvements
• Be the voice of Engineering and communicate to the entire company
• Be a leader in the company and a voice for key executive level decisions on behalf of Engineering
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and even commit code when necessary is a plus

• Be a full-stack engineering master: Cassandra, RabbitMQ, Celery, Salt, Python, Django, Go, ElasticSearch, React
• 10+ years of engineering experience, 5+ years in management
• A track record of scaling and managing successful teams including hiring, on-boarding, process refinement, and professional development
• A track record of implementing automatic testing and delivering exceptional quality in a high reliability environment
• The ability to think strategically and align with the overall business objectives and goals of Umbel
• A track record as a strong individual contributor
