(San Mateo, California)Tile has invented a simple and sleek location tracking app that can be used to track any item users don’t want to misplace. Users can place small, affordable Tiles on wallets, purses, computers, luggage, etc., allowing them to communicate within the world’s largest lost and found network.
We’re looking for an innovative, collaborative, and resourceful Hardware Engineer excited to help create and advance the hardware of the world’s first massmarket consumer Internet of Things product, Tile. This handson tinkerer will have an impact on a global scale, making decisions that will allow hundreds of thousands of customers peace of mind knowing their valuables can be reliably tracked and found if misplaced. Currently Tile has created the world’s largest lost and found network, but the technology has a potential impact that is far, far greater, spanning transportation, healthcare, energy, and the connected home. Our Hardware Engineer will help bring that potential to reality, hopefully with a good sense of humor, a solid work ethic, and a sense of owning his or her own destiny.
- Own product hardware design, validation and NPI for Tile device
- Work crossfunctionally with various groups (SW, Product, ME, Operations, overseas and local contract manufacturers) to drive to deliver an ontime, best in class product.
- Travel internationally to insure manufacturing process is perfect.
- Define and perform engineering characterization tests (functional systems test, coexistence, EMC)
- Work with CMs to define and optimize manufacturing tests
- Has owned at least 2 massproduction designs from spec to NPI (ideally CIP)
- Taken products through EMC: FCC/CE/VCCI
- Has a solid understanding of DFM principles
- Understands design for low power consumer electronics
- Has defined and performed engineering characterization tests
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Can independently work with lab tools: Oscilloscope, power meters etc; Soldering SMT down to 0201; Spectrum analyzer
- Solid EDA tool user: OrCAD CIS, Allegro layout
- Has created and maintained symbol libraries and CIS databases
- Systems designs with wireless interfaces (WIFI, BT/BLE) in addition to USB, I2C, SPI, UART
