The Black Tux is transforming the tuxedo and suit rental market. What was a traditional shopping experience is now offered completely online with a focus on quality, fit, and price. We have seen incredible growth since our 2013 launch and are looking for talented engineers to help us as we continue to scale.

We are looking to hire a software engineer. You are obsessed with delivering the best possible customer experience, value software engineering practices, and never forget about scalability and reusability when designing your code.

This is a unique opportunity to build the technology for an early stage company with a killer product. You will be part of a small dedicated technical team for a Santa Monica company backed by Silicon Valley’s top investors.

• Build and improve software systems for a fast-growing, disruptive e-commerce company
• Develop scalable backend services in key focus areas such as order management, logistics and inventory management
• Create APIs to integrate with front end and 3rd party systems
• Build and improve algorithm for fitting customers based on large set of data
• Deliver defect limited code through ubiquitous test automation
• Contribute to the development of the team, our standards, and best practices.

• 5+ years of professional software development
• Experience with a dynamic programming language such as C#, Python, Scala, and/or Ruby
• Familiarity with a web framework: .Net, Entity, Django, Pyramid, Rails, Node.js, Play, etc.
• Fluent in front-end web technologies: HTML, SCSS, JS, jQuery and more
• Knowledge of modern web technologies
• Experience designing and building e-commerce/retail systems
• Ability to operate at web-scale
• Experience with delivering EBS and API frameworks built on standards such as JSON-HAL, REST, CRUD and SOAP
• Previous work on consumer web products built from scratch
• Good eye for UX/design
• Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
• Cognizant of DevOps practices and principles
