Associate Director, Business and Legal Affairs

The Associate Director, Business and Legal Affairs is responsible for the review, negotiation and drafting distribution agency agreements, digital account agreements, marketing services agreements, joint ventures, and new media agreements.
- Draft and/or negotiate various agreements, including, but not limited to, distribution agency agreements, digital account agreements, marketing services agreements, joint ventures, online promotions, and new media agreements.
- Create deal summaries and maintain and otherwise administer systems notifying RED personnel of current deal terms and status.
- Advise senior executives, Finance, Marketing, and other departments regarding contractual obligations and restrictions.
- Counseling internal departments and senior management on day-to-day business and legal issues and strategy.
- Monitoring compliance with on-line regulation and litigations.
- Investigate claims, including internal interviews, review contracts, and other research.
- Oversee and maintain UCC filings.
- Respond to requests for information and/or advice from other business units, including contract research and analysis.
- Law degree and strong legal background in the areas of the law applicable to the music business (copyright, contract, trademark, digital law, corporate transactional , litigation, etc.).
- 2-5 years of legal experience in an entertainment company or related law practice and/or litigation practice.
- Ability to read and interpret contracts.
- Excellent legal drafting skills.
- Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Must be proactive, willing to take ownership of projects, and open to new challenges.
- Facility with numbers a definite plus.
- Music industry experience a plus.
