Product Manager
Shmoop
(Mountain View, California)Shmoop is a digital publishing company that makes learning, teaching, and test prep materials that aredare we say itawesome, thrilling, spectacular, magnificent, unforgettable and smart. Really smart.
Who are you?
You are an excellent cross-team communicator who can steer products from concept to complete. Along the way, youll iterate with design, run ideas by sales and your supervisors, redesign, run them by other folks again, get feedback from engineering, and help guide the implementation process to ensure successful launches across the globe. You have a proven track record in project management and a demonstrated ability to influence and grow product expansion. (We stay up at night thinking about conquering the world. What can we say?)
More specifically...
You know how to take 10 customer requests and turn them into 1 solid MVP that addresses those requests while also meeting needs our customers didnt even know they had.
You know how to balance aggressive timelines with tractable products that deliver results. That is, you understand where the immediate business value is but youre not lacking in long-term vision.
You take the time to make clients feel heard and understood, and assist engineering by carefully reproducing issues that come through customer service. You might even be able to diagnose the issue yourself.
You know how to manage risk based on the academic calendar and our sales calendar.
You know the perfect is the enemy of the good, but we also expect you to be pretty perfect.
You have a backbone, but you know how to be flexible.
Shall we continue?
You are also a self-starter, proactive, collaborative, and dedicated to meeting deadlines and producing results. You thrive working in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment. A deep and platonic love for Bill Nye is, of course, a åplus.
