Sensient employs advanced technologies at facilities around the world to develop specialty food and beverage systems, cosmetic and pharmaceutical systems, inkjet and specialty inks and colors, and other specialty and fine chemicals.
This position performs preventative maintenance; troubleshoots, repairs, and installs plant and building equipment; and manages all maintenance of process equipment, control systems, pneumatics, steam, water and ammonia utilities and facilities. All duties are performed to safely maintain process uptime and performance with a minimum of unscheduled downtime. These responsibilities will be performed in compliance with all company and regulatory programs including, but not limited to: SQF, HACCP, GMP, OSHA, FDA, USDA and EPA policies and procedures.
- Work safely at all times and report any and all safety issues or malfunctions immediately to supervisor.
- Actively participate in programs to improve workplace safety including, but not limited to, attending plant-wide safety training, conducting facility audits and training other staff in safe work practices.
- Maintain highest level of commitment to Safe Quality Food (SQF) to provide assurance that all products have been produced and handled according to the highest Food Safety standard.
- Use skills to install, troubleshoot and maintain all plant equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance throughout plant.
- Use and develop basic knowledge of automation systems including pneumatics, fluid control, and PLCs for troubleshooting process equipment.
- Read blueprints, process diagrams, equipment manuals and trade instructions in order to troubleshoot problems, offer solutions, order parts, and repair equipment.
- Maintain all necessary documentation, records and charts.
- Install and maintain water, gas, air, sewer, oxygen, process media installation and piping throughout plant.
- Weld using various types of equipment, welds, and materials for sanitary product lines.
- Follow all company, regulatory and department policies regarding good manufacturing practices (GMP), plant rules, lock out/tag out, safety, HACCP, environmental and sanitation.
- Assist in training of other maintenance personnel.
- Clean, organize and maintain tools and equipment.
- Assume other duties as needed or as assigned by the supervisor or lead person.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in food manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of industrial controls for troubleshooting various types of manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
- Ability to use of analytical skills to determine root cause issues with equipment failure, or optimization of equipment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision; be self-motivated, precise and conscientious.
- Knowledge of and ability to use specialized testing equipment and tools.
