As a Web Developer contractor for SendGrid, you will help us build beautiful user-centered website experiences and be an essential part of bringing happy new customers onto our platform with your exceptional WordPress, PHP and front-end development skills.
- Work hand-in-hand with our in-house website team to build and maintain an amazing website and intranet experience for our customers and employees.
- Help build dynamic WordPress pages, templates, content types, and taxonomies to support our website initiatives.
- Craft pixel-perfect, responsive UI using WordPress/PHP, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and Javascript/JQuery.
- Maintain the highest possible customer experience with cross-browser testing, performance tuning, regular bug fixing and a passion for tech debt reduction.

You are a WordPress pro who regards code as poetry and has a passion for creating engaging, precise, and lightning fast experiences. You care about consistency, forward-thinking architecture, security, and building interactions that will delight the user.
- 3+ years experience in enterprise-grade or e-commerce website development using a CMS.
- You’re available to contribute 10 - 30 hours per week, depending on the amount of work we have during the sprint. (We can set a fixed number of hours per week if that’s easier for you).
- You’re willing to attend our sprint planning meetings, track your work in our Jira project and use HipChat for real-time communication with the team.
- You’re happy doing a variety of different work - from bug fixing to complex new page development.
- You love a good debate on whether to use a plugin, content types, or page templates to build out customized content.
- You are effective in PHP.
- You know how important performance and security are for a company that acquires new customers through their website.
- You’re comfortable with Git and enterprise hosting providers like Pantheon to deploy code across dev, test and live environments.
- You’ve implemented pixel tracking code and data layer attributes for services like Google Tag Manager.
- You’re comfortable creating responsive web pages using WordPress, PHP, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, Javascript/JQuery.
- You have an understanding of photography, usability, visual design, and modern interaction patterns.
