Software Engineer

Scientific Games Corporation is a company that provides gaming products and services to lottery and gaming organizations worldwide.

The Software Engineer works within the Social Gaming team to create of compelling game experiences for social gaming gaming products. The primary responsibility of this positions is to deliver high quality and timely software for all assigned projects. This position must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and is accountable for the thorough implementation of all tasks assigned.

• Design, implement, and maintain client side and server side code for web based games

• Work on client/server based applications with a variety of web front ends (HTML, Ajax, JavaScript, ActionScript 3.0) connecting to back end servers with server side code written in PHP

• Analyze, identify, and eliminate bottlenecks and errors on the server side and ensure efficiency and reliability of code

• Contribute to the development of new/innovative game play features and interfaces

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience

Required Experience:

• 3 years of software development experience

• Experience with development tools including IDEs, debuggers, bug tracking and source control systems required

• Strong Object Oriented programming skills

Preferred Experience:

• Distributed application (client/server) development experience

• Game Development experience

• Experience in UI development

• Starling Game Engine Experience

• SQL

• PHP scripting on back end systems

• Unity 3D, OpenGL, and/or Objective-C

• LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, PHP, mySQL)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Web development using HTML, JavaScript, Ajax, and/or Flash (ActionScript 3.0)

• Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming techniques and languages (in particular Java or C++)

• CVS, SVN or other version control software
