Summary
As a member of the U.S. benefits team, administers and communicates the company’s U.S. benefits program in regard to plan options, policy features, enrollment and other requirements. Surveys market data in order to determine company’s competitive position in employee benefits. Assists in planning, developing, and redesigning company benefits programs and analyzing benefit costs. Mentors other members of the benefits team. Ensures company compliance with federal and state laws. May be involved with communication and implementation of wellness and health education initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Manage, administer and maintain all U.S. employee benefits programs including health, welfare, 401(k), time off and voluntary benefits. Also supports other team members with wellness program and health education initiatives. * Evaluates and compares existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys and other sources of information. Plans, develops and participates in area and industry surveys. Analyzes result of surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by management. * Develops specifications and leads request for proposal efforts for new or modified plans to maintain company’s competitive position. Evaluates quotations and makes recommendations to management concerning new plans and sharing of cost between employer and employee. Responsible for implementation activities. * Develops communications, conducts employee meetings and arranges for enrollment in optional plans. Conducts employee benefit seminars for local personnel. Revises and reissues all communications material on benefits from time to time. Advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefits. * Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan text, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit programs. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance. * Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Insurance Security Act. Manages preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, including Affordable Care Act reporting. Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes to management. Coordinates company benefits, with government sponsored programs. * Assures that existing and new benefit programs are adaptable to standardized computer and reporting systems. Develops benefits information, statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers and management. * In a high-touch environment, handles complex employee benefit issues and assists in handling escalated benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable and courteous resolution. * Collaborates with HR Business Partners, Finance and Payroll team members and other stakeholders. Uses strong leadership and stakeholder management skills to ensure effective communication with employees, vendors and benefits consultant.
Ideal Candidate
* Strong working knowledge of benefits legislation. * A preference for and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, be self-directed and motivated. * Works well individually and as a member of a team. * Must demonstrate excellent and timely customer service. * Strong business acumen, organization, multi-tasking, analytical, verbal and written communication skills required. * Excellent mathematical aptitude, analysis skills and technical skills in benefits required. * Proven strength in vendor management. * Administration of online employee benefits enrollment tools and coordination with U.S. benefits consultants.Experience with ADP Payroll and Buck/Xerox Benefits portals strongly preferred.Minimum of 8 years of related experience.Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience.Excellent Microsoft skills. Expertise with Excel reporting, V Look-ups and Pivot tables preferred.International benefits experience is a plus.
