Summary

The Product Designer will research, create, and execute innovative concepts and designs for Ruffwear’s mission of building performance dog gear to enhance and inspire exploration for outdoor adventurers and their human companions. This position works collaboratively with the R&D Director and the Product Development team to deliver market-leading products for initial concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities

Market research and Product Design

  • Market needs identification
  • Styles, Function, Fit, Aesthetics
  • Materials/Components (Fabric, Trim, Hardware)
  • Colors

Development

  • Prototyping
  • Sample development and review
  • Documentations (Tech Pack, Development Notes, etc)
  • Consumption and Cost Analysis
  • Product testing
  • Final product approval

Logo Design

  • Engineered Form
  • Materials
  • Color/Style

Miscellaneous

  • Designs to assist Product, Marketing and Sales projects
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years experience in product design for the outdoor, apparel, or pet industries is preferred.
  • Full comprehension of computer-aided design software (Illustrator, CAD, SolidWorks, Photoshop, MS Office, etc.) and experience working in a Mac environment
  • Experience in following up on projects to ensure designs are executed correctly
  • Ability to work well remotely and independently with oversea factories
  • Ability to work outside the job description and assist other departments with projects
  • A passion for dogs and an understanding of the interactive bond between canines and humans
  • High degree of curiosity and Problem solving skills
