Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Marketer

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver 12 month communications plans with program teams and with other stakeholders with clear, audience-specific messages (whether for industry experts or donors and prospects) that leverage diverse channels including media relations, digital media, and RMI- and partner-owned assets.
  • Develop substantive understanding of the technical content for owned impact areas
  • Work with cross-functional team’s including technical experts and development, and contribute to overall strategy and execution
  • Leverage in-house communications capabilities (i.e., editorial, design, web, traditional and social media) to support campaigns and help the program reach its goals for impact
  • Coordinate integrated communications with external partners
  • Work with the Managing Director of Marketing & Communications and other Marketing Managers to ensure that campaigns are sufficiently supported by in-house resources and, if needed, by third-party resources
  • Develop and report against pre-defined metrics of success
  • Work with Development member of cross-functional team to ensure we have a strong set of fundraising materials
  • Ensure RMI technical experts are active in the right conversations (media, social, other) that are shaping target audience sentiment in line with expressed impact team goals—working with other team resources to get this done
  • Develop and report against metrics of success

Media Relations

  • Design and execute the organization-wide communications strategy with support from Managing Director of Communications
  • Manage external PR agency team and other vendors in delivering on the strategy
  • Design and execute PR plans for all programs and organization announcements in partnership with team program marketers (who are responsible for overall program communications)
  • Set up meetings/interviews, capture action items, update status reports
  • Craft nuanced pitches for key media at the optimal level of detail
  • Monitor social and traditional media and stay ahead of news events and media trends/conversations in key RMI/CWR industries
  • Identify proactive opportunities for media engagement across RMI-CWR
  • Draft and coordinate production and dissemination of press releases, media alerts, and social media content
  • Support reactive media requests for organizational information, commentary/interviews, spokespeople and event participation
  • Use analytics to measure and report on progress on strategy
  • Provide full media recaps for every PR campaign
  • Work with in-house editorial, design, and digital / social media services to execute PR campaigns
Ideal Candidate

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in media, marketing or communications, PR agency or corporate communications experience with demonstrated media campaign experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or English (please note skill-level on resume)
  • Familiarity with the following technologies and programs: Google (Gmail, Gchat, Google Calendar, Google Drive), Skype, Microsoft PowerPoint, Xcel, Meltwater, Mediagility or equivalent media software
  • Highly professional and organized
  • Creative, meticulous attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication and writing skills (AP Style knowledge preferred)
  • Ability to turn around high-quality work on tight deadlines under pressure
  • Familiarity with the following social and digital applications: Twitter, Facebook, Flipboard, LinkedIn, MailChimp, Instagram, Vine
  • Knowledge of and interest in energy, finance, and global sustainability issues
  • Positive, highly motivated, and flexible with changing deadlines and workloads
  • Ability to work with multiple teams on multiple projects and deliver against wider organizational goals
