Director of Product Development

Research and Development Director opportunity with an electronics manufacturing company in a highly regulated industry located East of the New York City area. This position will be responsible to plan, organize and lead the Research and Development and Engineering teams to create ideas and design products from inception throughout the whole life cycle. This position is bonus eligible. Relocation will be considered on a case by case basis.

* Lead and manage both the Research and Development and Engineering teams to create ideas and design products from inception through successful product launch * Planning R&D and project budgets and manage timelines to accomplish company goals through new product developments * Coach and train the team in project management and problem solving; select, develop, delegate and manage staff * Work cross-functionally within the international organization to establish buy-in support for department and business initiatives * Build strong, collaborative relationships with other internal departments (e.g. Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Finance, Sales, IT, HR, Product Management) * Contribute to the company strategy by developing strategic initiatives towards innovation * Other duties as typical and needed

* Bachelors in Engineering with a Masters in Engineering and/or Management preferred (or equivalent experience and education). * Have knowledge in the regulations for electronic devices and experience in the implementation and maintenance of processes in compliance with FDA and CE requirements * Demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with other internal departments with emphasis towards Operations, Quality, and Engineering * Ability to manage teams in the full life cycle of a project through a successful project launch with a sense of urgency * At least three or more years managing an Engineering Department * Ability to focus on future technologies
