Summary

We're searching for a dynamic engineer to fully understand and own hardware design for our product development and test team here in San Diego. In this role, you'll have the ability to influence the next generation of wireless communication and impact the future of data convergence that Qualcomm is pioneering. The person in this position will be responsible for the development of board level hardware systems and test hardware. It is expected of the candidate to possess the knowledge to drive the design through the full board development cycle, from creating block diagrams, schematics, drive the hardware design through CAD and simulate it to ensure the performance of the hardware is in line with the expected specification. This is key to enable the team to characterize and demonstrate the exceptional performance of Qualcomms chipsets. Being involved with all Qualcomm chipsets makes the environment here dynamic with an extremely cohesive team focused on common goals.

Responsibilities

The Product Development Hardware team is a matrixed organization, you will have dotted line reporting to a project engineer or a program manager that is responsible for the project, while also having the support of a line manager. Working to design high-performance systems, the engineer in this position will encounter changing specifications and new technology that needs to be incorporated into existing designs. So the ability to work effectively with a varying level of engineers, management and customers is essential. Strong organizational skills are also a must with emphasis on technical understanding and simulations.

Ideal Candidate

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years experience in the areas listed below:

  • Hardware design, knowledge of schematic capture, and driving layout tools.
  • Signal and Power Integrity design principles with knowledge of simulation tools like power SI, ADS, HFSS,
  • Radio frequency (RF) design, high-speed digital design, baseband and analog design, signal integrity analysis and simulation, analog front ends (AFE), integration and test and maintaining hardware through the product cycle.
  • Board design through full development life cycle
  • Probe Card HW, FPGA and Final Test HW.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Simulation using ADS, Power SI/Power DC and HFSS/Q3D
  • Final Test/Probe Card design
  • Strong presentations skills
  • Excellent communications skills

  • Required: Bachelor's, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering
