About Porter Novelli

Porter Novelli is a global public relations company with an immediate need for a Vice President in the Global Health and Social Impact team of our Washington, DC office -- with experience in integrated social marketing, advocacy and public education campaigns.

Summary

This position is responsible for planning and executing activities on behalf of clients under the direction of a senior manager. Vice Presidents are expected to be able to plan and execute activities for clients in a timely, efficient, and high quality manner.

Responsibilities
  • Developing strong client relationships by providing strategic counsel, building and leading solid account teams, mentoring, motivating, growing and retaining employees and managing accounts to consistently achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrating independence and autonomy with respect to their responsibilities and must exhibit a deep understanding of the clients, their industry, the account and the agency.
  • Participating in new business development, company-wide initiatives, and managing finances and resources profitably.
Ideal Candidate

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Well-developed knowledge of healthcare marketplace/business practices/agency resources.

  • Demonstrated experience managing research-based, social marketing and public education campaigns on behalf of clients in the public and private sectors.

  • Solid knowledge of leading accounts on behalf of federal government clients in the healthcare space.

  • A passion for ideas and moving clients into new ways of thinking about the role of PR are critical to success in this role.

  • Ability to develop/execute integrated communications strategies/programs and work collaboratively with partner agencies across disciplines (promotions, advertising, etc.)

  • Demonstrated capability to manage relationships with multiple internal and external clients.

  • General business acumen, budget management, leadership and mentoring skills required.

  • Strong written/verbal communications/compelling presentation skills.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years public relations experience with relevant healthcare agency experience or equivalent required. Preferred experience in integrated social marketing, advocacy and public education campaigns.

  • Experience in growing accounts organically, prospecting and securing new business is essential to this opportunity.

  • Bachelors degree required (Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related degree preferred).
