Associate Creative Director

• Next Issue Media is looking for an ACD-level Art Director or Interactive Designer to help redefine how people read articles, view photography and interact with their favorite magazines, and firmly establish the Next Issue product and brand.

• As a member of a Marketing team of about ten people, the right candidate will help lead the group’s ongoing marketing and suggest new efforts.

• She or he will take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively to ensure the service is marketed creatively and effectively. As well, he or she will occasionally work with other departments to help deliver a customer experience that meets the expectations set by the marketing.

• You will create across various mediums and channels (magazine, display, social media, and the Next Issue website, to name just a few).

• The objective of the work is simple: to get more people to try the Next Issue service, engage with it deeply, and to keep subscribing to it.

• 6+ years experience as an Art Director or Designer, be it agency or client-side

• Has a portfolio that boasts smart work across a range of many digital and some traditional mediums

• Follows project briefs, conceives ideas that are both strategic and creative, and designs brilliantly

• Can lead and manage staff and freelance designers

• Knows how to collaborate with project managers, developers, copywriters, and creative directors

• Manage digital, social media, and print production, including photo shoots, with smart thinking and efficient practices

• Understands user experience and information architecture principles

• Knowledge of HTML and other web technologies is a plus

• Open to working out of the SF office (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) and at the Menlo Park headquarters (Tuesdays and Thursdays with catered lunches and snacks galore)

• Assist with the re-launch of our brand and identity as well as launch the biggest revision ever of our product.
