Summary
Responsibilities include applying mechanical engineering knowledge to the design and development of products as well as product changes and enhancements; part and assembly design, detail, MRP setup, and final documentation; engineering analysis and tests; analytical modeling, simulation and support of final product; solving work issues across multiple departments and functions. Will handle multiple projects concurrently and will be involved in "hands on" solutions in the manufacturing process as well as field related matters.
Responsibilities
* Solve mechanical engineering problems from component through system level. * Must be motivated, conscientious and team oriented. * Conduct functional testing. * Work to customer specifications, identifying changes to standard equipment to meet specifications within budget and "on time" schedule. * Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings and processes. * Prepare mechanical designs from concept to completion. * Release BOM of standard machinery for production. * Continuous improvement of standard equipment. * Source new parts and collaborate with purchasing. * Provide engineering support for pre-sales solutions. * Work with other departments, to find the “best for customer” solutions. * And any other tasks assigned by supervisor.
Ideal Candidate
* Design mechanical parts/assemblies using SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software at a mastery level. * Proven ability to meet schedules. * Must be capable of making independent technical contributions from multiple engineering disciplines. * Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be highly motivated and results oriented. * Must be detail oriented. * Must possess strong organizational skills. * Ability to work individually or in a team environment. * Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. * Excellent customer interface skills. * Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes: turning, milling, welding * Knowledge of assembly methods, tools, jigs and fixtures. * Ability to create/use basic spreadsheets, advance Excel skills a plus. * Willingness to travel—5% to 10%. **Education and Experience** * Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Technical School degree or comparable proven work experience in machinery design. * A minimum of 5-10 years proven experience in designing machinery. Working design knowledge of weldment structures, sheet metal, precision machined components, AC/DC motor-gearbox drive systems and servo-motor based drive systems.
