Senior Development Manager, Bike MS

Under the leadership of the Director of Development, this position will oversee the strategic execution of the Bike MS: Waves to Wine campaign for the chapter in order to achieve designated fundraising revenue and registration goals. The Sr. Development Manager, Bike MS will directly supervise two Development Managers and also manage the budget for Bike MS.
Fundraising (55% of time)
- Develop and cultivate relationships with event participants, top fundraisers, donors, leadership volunteers and others community partners
- Develop and manage Bike MS campaign budget, timeline and action plan
- In coordination with marketing team, develop overall marketing strategy and communication plan for Bike MS campaign
- Identify and cultivate new and existing relationships with sponsors in order to maximize corporate engagement.
- Assist and support event committees in the solicitation of products, services and cash donations
- Work with the campaign committees to encourage growth in pledge and paid averages for the chapter
- Assist with and attend other chapter fund raising events
Public Education (5% of time)
- Produce acknowledgement and thank you letters which related to the mission needs addressed
- Include client programs and information on multiple sclerosis in the campaign/event brochures, newsletters and mailings
- Provide information about multiple sclerosis and chapter programs to participants, donors, volunteers and sponsors
- Educate the campaign committees and volunteers on program activities, research and issues relating to the Society and multiple sclerosis
- Include information about MS, ways to obtain additional information and materials chapter programs and how to access resources in all press materials, brochures, flyers, posters and public relations pieces
Team Management (15%)
- Oversee the supervision of two Development Managers to ensure specified performance goals are met.
- Coach staff to enhance skills, coordinate professional staff development and assure special event staff has appropriate resources and tools.
- Develop and manage budgets for Bike MS while accurately forecasting throughout the year to ensure accuracy.
Community Services (10% of time)
- Ensure all campaigns/events are accessible and open to the community
- Recruitment and training of volunteers, including people with MS, for the campaigns and events and all other related volunteers
- Ensure risk management of the campaigns/events for the safety of fund raising participants, volunteers and the community
- Provide meaningful development opportunities and recognition for volunteers
- Manage logistics to ensure that participants and volunteers have support in terms of communication, food and comfort
- Serve as a primary campaign and event spokesperson for persons with MS and the chapter
- Serve as the MS Walk campaign liaison with other community agencies
Programs (5% of time)
- Involve MS clients and family members in campaign/event activities
- Work with program colleagues to ensure unified strategy for engaging event participants and clients
- Keep current on client programs and services and research advance
Volunteer Engagement (10% of time)
- We increase the number of Society volunteers, recognizing and recruiting talent (Managing Relationships, Being Open and Receptive)
- We engage volunteers, effectively communicating and facilitating meaningful opportunities across all functions. (Communication)

Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience/Skills/Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and management skills.
- Minimum three years progressive development experience as well as experience in volunteer management, event planning and prospect marketing.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.
Technical/Other:
- Dependable vehicle & current driver's license
- Requires computer skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and MS Society databases.
- Knowledge of Convio a plus
