This position requires the problem solving and technical skills necessary to design, implement, and improve tooling and gages used in the high production manufacture of precision machined parts.
- The Tooling Engineer’s primary responsibilities will include the design, purchasing, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of our tooling and gages used in screw machines, CNC, and secondary operations.
- This will include working closely with the Engineering Manager, Quality Control, Operations Manager, and shop floor personnel to improve our processes in all areas.
- The position will require a mixture of design, purchasing, and quotation responsibilities, as well as hands on tasks in the shop, working directly with machine setup and operators to gain feedback on tooling and ideas for improvement.
- Background and/or education in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or similar engineering field.
- Degree preferred, but not required if can demonstrate substantial work experience.
- Experience with Screw Machines a major benefit, but not required.
- Applicants MUST be familiar with metal turning and machining concepts, and specifically the design and improvement of metal cutting tools.
- Applicants should possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude and be strongly self-motivated.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Excel, experience with PartMaker and/or database systems a plus.
- Must have demonstrable problem solving skills, as well as ability to anticipate and prevent potential problems.
- Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects.
