Summary:
Under the supervision of a Senior Attorney, the Legal Advocate will be responsible for providing litigation support and holistic client services. The Legal Advocate will provide assistance in family law cases, primarily for low-income survivors of domestic violence. The essential functions for the position may include:
- Conduct client interviews and meetings
- Assist with the preparation and filing of legal documents
- Prepare written translations
- Assist with legal research as needed
- Provide safety planning for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors
- Provide or assure referrals to appropriate community services
- Track client files and case-related data
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish required
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree with paralegal certificate required
- 2-3 years experience with family law preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to public interest work
- Previous experience working with survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual assault strongly preferred
- Ability to work successfully with people from diverse backgrounds
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated and excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel and Internet
- Employment is subject to successful completion of a criminal background check

Additional Notes on Compensation
Annual salary approximately $35,000 depending on experience. Health, vision, dental and life insurance benefits. Opportunity to participate in employee deferred 403(b) and flex savings account.
