The Systems Engineer is a key position within the IT Department based at LivingSocial’s headquarters in Washington DC. You will be joining a team of local and geographically dispersed Technical Engineers who build, manage, secure and expand the Corporate IT infrastructure.
- Serve in consultative role to various business groups to define requirements, document hardware/software requirements, and design solutions to meet the requirements
- Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning
- Perform ongoing analysis of current environment and implement improvements within budget
- Support, upgrade and manage Microsoft Active Directory
- Manage security and patching of the LS Windows Server infrastructure
- Provide tier 2/3 support for the LS Help Desk
- Work closely with LivingSocial’s Security, Network and Telephony teams to achieve business goals
- Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of issues for Windows 2008/2012 Servers
- Provide operational support and administration for multiple business systems as necessary
- Bachelor's degree (CS/Information Technology-related field preferred) or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology
- Minimum of 3 years experience with Active Directory and LDAP
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Proven ability to work independently within broadly defined business goals
- Strength in organization and ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and projects
- PowerShell scripting
- DHCP, DNS, and DFS
- NAS/SAN Configuration and support
- Experience supporting Sophos Endpoint Protection and Sophos SGE
- Systems Management software (SCCM, Intune, Absolute Manage)
- Experience working with one or more major trouble ticket systems
- Familiar with networking concepts, troubleshooting, and support (TCP/IP)
- Google Apps management
- Software license management
- Expert knowledge required for Apple and Microsoft workstations and laptops
- Ability to handle confidential information in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
- Ability to work off-hours as needed for support and maintenance activities
- MCSE, MCITP, or an MCSA is highly desired
- VMware and/or Citrix virtualization experience preferred

- Requires the ability to produce detailed technical documentation
- Requires experience developing and presenting recommendations to peers and management
- Requires good organization skills to produce quality work, within required specifications, and within scheduled timelines
- The position requires individual initiative and ability to influence events, rather than passively accepting them in order to achieve goals. This means being proactive and a self-starter and going beyond specific job responsibilities to ensure goals are achieved or exceeded
