Summary

Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking a Materials Manager for our Genesis Seating branch. In this position, you will direct and coordinate strategic sourcing, daily procurement, inventory management and control, supplier and customer interface, and inbound/outbound logistics. Your attention will also be needed in coordinating and expediting the flow of purchased materials to manufacturing facilities and cells.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure adequate supplies of quality materials are available to allow production to meet customer demand
  • Identify, qualify, select, develop, and assess suppliers
  • Maintain approved supplier list
  • Notify vendors of any quality, delivery, or packaging non-conformities and initiate corrective actions
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy and negotiate fair and prompt settlements
  • Inspect delivered material to verify conformance to specifications
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability
  • Document material cost changes by commodity
  • Oversee inventory accuracy and direct material flow to production cells
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University
  • At least 5 years of related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific, technical, and professional reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook
  • Proven analytical skills
