Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist focuses on creating digital content and strategy that strengthens our online and mobile presence and inspires people to interact with and support their forest preserves.

Primary role is writing and editing website content and managing site design, usability and analytics to expand online audiences and increase revenues.

Follows marketing, social media and technology trends to help optimize website, mobile and online resources.

Works across all departments to analyze marketing needs and present solutions that build understanding and awareness of our brand, connect people to our mission, and help increase online sales.

This position also writes, edits and designs content for a variety of other electronic and print communication channels, including our mobile app, e-newsletters, social media, publications, advertising, marketing campaigns, multimedia presentations, news releases and general communications.

Bachelor's Degree in communications/marketing/graphic and web design/advertising; digital arts/technology, or related field.

Two years of experience in writing and developing content for web, mobile, social media, electronic and print communication channels.

Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills; creative skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Must demonstrate success and working knowledge of: web/mobile content management systems (CMS), HTML, CSS; Adobe Creative Suites C5/C6 (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); social networking; current, innovative and emerging industry trends; and analytics tools and tactics.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
