Data Engineer

Kabam, Inc. (“Kabam”) creates, develops, and publishes massively multiplayer games that are available to a global audience on mobile devices via its own dedicated channel in the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore.

The Data Engineer role in our Central Tech organization will be designing and building core data infrastructure services for reporting, analysis and data science. Kabam is a data-driven business relying on consistency and stability of data across our portfolio of games.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and technical stakeholders to craft the best solutions to meet our business goals
• Design, implement, debug, document, test, and maintain code for data ingestion, storage, and consumption
• Estimate engineering effort to contribute to sprint planning and keep our delivery on track
• Participate in code reviews to give and receive constructive criticism improving our deliverables
• Design and build scalable test framework for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing
• Ensure data quality is delivered with active alerting and notifications for escalations

Education:

CS Degree or equivalent work experience

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience with software engineering
• Deep understanding of object oriented programming in both static and dynamic languages such as Java and Ruby
• SQL and NoSQL database experience
• ETL techniques and best practices to handle large data volumes in batch and streaming
• Experience with data warehouse architecture and data modeling best practices
• Cloud infrastructure devops to support deployment and data management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Functional programming in Scala
• Javascript, node.js, and mongodb
• Infrastructure management on Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform
• Docker container deployment on Kubernetes
• RESTful Web Service API development
• Mobile development in Android and iOS
• Experience in games or fast paced company such as growth phase startup
