Vice President of Engineering

Jumpcut is a content platform that teaches people how to succeed on social media. Our long term vision is to change the way people learn online.

You'll be working directly with our founding team on designing and building a scalable, high-performance software platform that will be used to handle millions of payments and content access requests/releases. We require a fresh look at implementing product creation catalogs, discovery features and affiliate datastores.

Not only are you a great coder, but you're a great people manager, and you're excited to lead a team of engineers to create something great.

You have extremely proficient business and strategic knowledge, and you have had myriad experiences in startup tech already. With the founding team, you'll help develop our strategy for monetization, as well as network with the right players to help grow our vision.

Previous strategic/managerial experience at a growth tech firm is a must (e.g. APM at Google).

What We're Looking For

• Define, communicate, and maintain an expanding company's tech vision and goal of empowering content-creators
• In-depth experience in a full spectrum of web development technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, Python, Relational databases, NoSQL, distributed systems, network protocols and SEO
• Expert in most of our technology stack: React, MongoDB, Cassandra, Postgres, Node/Express and AWS
• A perfectionist - must have OCD :)
• Not only are you an excellent engineer, but you are also a leader of an excellent engineering team. You care about how to build a software solution as well as what to build. (e.g. how do we scale a video platform so that it can serve 1 million concurrent users from different countries)
• Supervise the timing and workplanning of each sprint to push team members to their full potential.
• Ability to explain complex technological concepts to non-tech people. Remember, this is a multidisciplinary company and you will be consistently communicating with different people internally and at various venues about the technology you and your team are working on
