Electrical Controls Engineer

Johnsonville Sausage, LLC, a strong, high growth company, has an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual to join us as an Electrical Controls Engineer. This member will be part of the Automation, Controls, and Integration team to discover and integrate the latest technologies. This position will partner with our Engineering, Maintenance and Operations Teams to focus on projects and initiatives in the area of electrical, PLCs, and robotics within our operations. This member will be involved in cutting edge technology which will help us get closer to our goal of “Best Company in the World.”

• Develop and integrate electrical control systems for machines and manufacturing processes as well as large scale communication network architecture design
• Be part of the Automation, Controls, and Integration team discovering, designing, and implementing the latest technologies
• Develop our organizational technical competencies surrounding programming and controls systems
• Work on the integration design of ABB, Staubli, and FANUC robotics equipment
• Write, edit, and enhance PLC, PAC, and robotic programs for new and existing equipment
• Provide initial project development including concept, design, layouts, cost estimating, cost justification, research and selection of the best equipment, and project submittals with timelines and contingencies
• Work closely with internal customers (e.g. Manufacturing Facilities, R&D, Quality, Packaging, Warehouse, Logistics, etc.) to support them in the accomplishment of their goals and objectives.
• Provide advice and technical direction as a support member for Johnsonville teams and members on an as-needed basis
• Provide continuous improvement in the company’s productivity pipeline and offer innovative ways to improve the company’s performance
• Facilitate and coordinate several projects simultaneously
• Lead projects in support of efforts to constantly improve safety, product quality, maintainability, continuous improvement, and customer service throughout Johnsonville
• Use your technical knowledge of engineering to recommend non-traditional, creative ideas and solutions

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required

Experience:

• Two years of large system programming experience including: PLC ladder logic, HMI screens, servo motion control, and robotics preferred
• Two years’ experience using structured text programming languages required. Examples include programming Ignition’s SCADA software, ABB’s Robotic Studio, Staubli’s VAL, or FANUC’s Karel. Other experiences using languages such as C++ or Pascal will be given consideration
• Hardware Qualifications-Experience in any combination of the following is required.
  • PLC: Micrologix (1000, 1100, 1200, 1500), ControlLogix, CompactLogix
  • Robotic: ABB, FANUC, Staubli
  • Servo: Ultra 3000, Kinetix 350, 5500, 6000
  • AC Drives: Allen Bradley (PowerFlex 4, PowerFlex 70, PowerFlex 525, PowerFlex 527)
  • HMI: Allen Bradley Panelview Plus, PC based Industrial Computers
  • Network: EtherNet IP, Cisco, Stratix
• Software Qualifications-Experience in any combination of the following is required.
  • SCADA: Ignition by Inductive Automation
  • Rockwell: Studio 5000, RSLogix (500, 5000), FactoryTalk View (ME, SE, ViewPoint), FactoryTalk Asset Centre, VantagePoint, FactoryTalk Historian (ME, SE)
  • Robotic: ABB’s Robotic Studio, Staubli’s VAL, FANUC’s Karel
  • Windows 7, Windows Office Suite
