Summary
The Marketing Communications Copywriter creates copy for internal and/or external marketing materials and campaigns. This role partners with marketing team members and subject matter experts and is responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading copy for both print and digital marketing and communications pieces. Under the supervision of the Director of Content, the individual will author: * Print projects including, but not limited to brochures, offer cards, direct mail, invitations, contributed articles, white papers, posters, newsletters * Digital projects including website, email, mobile, banners, social media, etc. Must be comfortable presenting and defending ideas and themes to internal clients.
Responsibilities
* Partner with product management and sales to understand the business goals and drivers behind each project/campaign and bring the goals to life through copy while adhering to brand and voice guidelines. * Work with internal clients to understand business goals and challenges and translate them into creative deliverables, manage and track reviews and revisions, and adjust copy to fit design requirements. * Depending on the project, work to create concepts or brand/product-specific messaging that serves to further the specified strategy. * Collaborate with Creative/Design department. * Work independently, as well as collaboratively. * Create writing that communicates a strong vision, that strengthens our message or that compels the end-user audience or customers to act. * Adhere to brand voice guidelines, creative standards, and best practices. * Keep business partners and marketing informed of progress. * Manage and meet deadlines. * Help develop new forms of content as brand develops and evolves. * Conduct research and interviews for creation of marketing materials.
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements:** * A Bachelor’s degree or diploma (preferably in Writing, English, Journalism, Psychology, Sociology, or Marketing) * 3-7 years total experience as a copywriter at an agency or in-house agency on technology and financial products and services. Specific experience in institutional investment a plus * An online portfolio of work in support of marketing and sales initiatives, including samples of email marketing campaigns, online banners, print ads, brochures, sales materials, presentations, and other collateral pieces written for a B2B audience, Portfolio samples should show that applicants can adapt their writing to the special requirements of various media and audiences. * Short (20 minute) writing test at time of interview **Additional Qualifications:** * Strong, active-language writing style, including the ability to write compelling copy while adhering to strict brand guidelines * Experience with both short-form (headlines, etc.) and long-form (feature articles and descriptive content) writing * A demonstrated history of experience in writing copy for financial services and technology, particularly B2B, and ideally, institutional investing * Experience with Microsoft Word, PPT, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat * Proven ability to complete large-scale content projects (writing entire websites or writing a variety of materials for entire marketing campaigns) * Experience using brand voice in all related collateral * Solid understanding of creative processes, concept development, and branding * Experience working with designers, project managers, and creative directors, as well as clients * Expertise in copywriting best practices for a variety of specific mediums including email, web sites, brochures, PPC ads, presentations, and more * Strong understanding of SEO and social media best practices * Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively juggle diverse writing demands, tight deadlines, unexpected delays, revisions, ad hoc requests and changing priorities * Able to resolve problems with minimal assistance; able to research/ leverage available internal and external resources * Strong editing and proofreading skills (expert-level command of punctuation and grammar) with excellent attention to detail * Openness to constructive criticism and willingness to accommodate requested revisions
