International Paper (India) Private Limited produces writing, printing and copier papers at its two manufacturing units in Andhra Pradesh, which have a total paper production capacity of 240,000 metric tons per year.
Summary
We currently have an opening for a Human Resource Generalist in our Retail Display & Packaging business. The intent of this position is to grow an HR Generalist with a thorough understanding of fundamental employee and labor relations principles and practices and a general understanding of the company’s businesses, markets, and key issues. Our Retail Display facilities manufacture, assemble, and pack out point-of-purchase displays for major consumer products goods companies and large retailers. This is a “hands on” position that requires interaction and visibility with all levels of the organization and all shifts. We are looking for a highly motivated, engaged, and committed individual that has an interest and background in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
* Business Partner: Act with line management in instituting work system improvements which positively impact business profitability and raise employee engagement. Help the facilities build a reliability culture where IP is the employer of choice. * Leadership Development, Engagement, and Diversity: educate, coach, and counsel members of the organization on job performance, employee development, and diversity to build work teams who fully contribute to meeting or exceeding business goals. * Recruiting and Staffing: Recruit and onboard hourly and salaried employees utilizing Pre-Employment selection processes. Lead College Recruiting efforts for internship and co-op opportunities. Develop and manage processes to effectively partner with temporary staffing vendors to meet cyclical business requirements. * Identify training and education needs at the department, facility, and business level; initiate cost-effective delivery of education plans and ensure processes are in place to sustain ongoing training and development efforts. * Educate and coach line management on company policies, work rules, and applicable federal and state regulations to ensure fair and consistent delivery of human resources practices and compliance with local labor agreements and/or employee handbooks. * Promote and participate in the planning and implementation of communication strategies which deliver accurate, consistent, and timely information on business issues and employee concerns. * Serve as Champion for change management; facilitates and influences processes to help drive and sustain work system and other change efforts. * Research and introduce human resources best practice concepts to ensure that the organization is utilizing leading-edge human resources technology and proactively considering new strategies. * Represent management in labor relations, including interpretation, administration and negotiation support of the collective bargaining agreement.
Ideal Candidate
A Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field is required. The successful candidate will have up to 5 years Human Resource experience or associated class work, must demonstrate leadership potential, and be open to career growth and relocation opportunities in the future. Successful candidates must be willing to be flexible as it relates to work hours, work location, and travel. Candidates must be customer-focused, have excellent problem solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skill, and be a role model for effective leadership behaviors. Specific competencies include: functional/technical skills in the human resources field, action-oriented, managerial courage, learning on the fly, conflict management, approachability, dealing with ambiguity, command skills, motivating others, drive for results, strategic agility, and building effective teams.
