Design Director

**In this position, the successful candidate will:** - Concept, develop and manage creative product while being hands-on with design - Manage creative teams and tracks of work - Lead and direct the creative team members / projects from concept to completion - Lead design projects across multi-screen experiences - Plan and estimate for highly complex projects - Reinvent / streamline and apply brand identity systems, typography, photography, color and other ingredients to create innovative visual solutions that meet business and user needs - Have a strong understanding of new technologies and production methodologies that supports the entire UX/Design process - Must have a strong understanding of Drupal and other platform technologies. - Create visual prototypes or screens - Extremely detail oriented and provide quality assurance of all creative deliverables - Contribute to the development of the creative team's culture and quality standards - Continually elevate the creative level of the work - Educate other team members, not exclusive to the creative team, through project development and performance management - Collaborate with strategy, marketing and business development teams to activate new business opportunities.

**Qualifications** - MA / BA - 7+ years of publishing industry /agency experience - Strong design portfolio with several large scale publishing websites - Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail is a must - A solid knowledge of the latest versions of applicable programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Keynote, etc. - A detailed understanding of online production and optimization processes - Passion for design and eagerness to mentor and elevate other creative professionals - Self-motivated and organized - Experience leading a team of designers, and production specialists - Knowledge of foundation and bootstrap - Excellent communication skills including ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale to other team members and client - A solid understanding of information architecture and UX practices - Experience working in a large global team environment - Experience presenting to business and marketing teams **Key competencies & skills:** - Photoshop Creative Suite - Illustrator - InDesign - Web optimization tools - Knowledge of Adobe DPS (Nice to have) - Strong understanding of frontend code, HTML, JavaScript etc. Front end development skills are a nice to have
