Applications Developer

Reporting to the Application Development Manager, this position is responsible for building, integrating, and maintaining software applications within the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) environment.

* Design, development and implementation of business applications built on the .Net platform.* Document and manage technical requirements, design, architecture, features, specification, code and deployment of existing and new applications.* Assist in the creation and maintenance of methodologies, standards and guidelines impacting application development.* Provide effort estimates and assist in the development of project timelines.* Work closely with business analysts and business owners to define requirements and prototype and build solutions* Work with DBA to support the integration of 3rd party applications into the HKS environment.

• 3+ years of experience with web applications development using ASP.NET and C# or VB.NET

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Sciences.
• Strong understanding of Design Patterns and Object Oriented Programming
• Strong SQL knowledge, particularly Microsoft SQL Server 2005+ and SQL Server Management Studio.
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and understand code written by others.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with team members and product owners.
• Familiarity with SharePoint, SharePoint based applications and Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of AJAX, XML, and XSLT
• Experience with source code control systems.
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services
