Summary

Global Atlantic is seeking a candidate to perform functions relating to accounting, reporting and data management, of a large portfolio of securities and other investments. In addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, all candidates must work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and possess a proven ability to design and lead operational and accounting change. All candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in implementation and maintenance of investment accounting processes and controls for various asset classes.
  • Perform reconciliations, prepare journal entries, process cash activity, and other investment accounting activities.
  • Perform period-end closing procedures, including analytical reviews of income earned, derivative valuations, and other financial statement items.
  • Investigate unanticipated variances and provide detailed comments to TPA or asset management operations team for resolution.
  • Prepare GAAP and STAT investment related schedules and footnote disclosures.
  • Assist with preparation of supporting schedules and footnotes for regulatory (i.e. SEC, NAIC) filings and audits.
  • Assist with initiatives for implementation of : new accounting standards, process improvements, and accounting processes and procedures for complex, new investment types, as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and NAIC model audit rule.
  • Perform frequent ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects, as requested.
  • Contribute to the design, development, control and maintenance of asset data warehouse to facilitate: reporting, exception reports and metrics reporting for Management, Portfolio Managers, Controllers, and other Stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA, MBA, CFA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Public Accounting experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with investment accounting systems (PAM, Sungard).
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Excel; data warehouse design or support a plus.
  • Pro-active, detail oriented, deadline driven; possess excellent documentation and analysis skills.
  • Results oriented, flexible, self motivated , and able to work in a team environment with limited direct supervision.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
