Junior Help Desk/Systems Engineer

Factual is a location platform that enables personalized and contextually relevant mobile experiences by enriching mobile location signals with definitive global data.

Factual is looking for a Junior-level Help Desk/Systems Engineer to help handle the management and growth of our cloud and internal computing and network infrastructure. We're a technical group of people working in a relaxed environment with various demanding infrastructure needs. There's almost no 24/7 component to this job but there are a lot of machines and systems to keep configured and happy and we have a very high standard of careful, detail-oriented, responsive professionalism.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain computing and networking infrastructure.
• Share support burden for mostly technical internal staff
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures
• Devops and automation of internal and production infrastructure
• System/network monitoring & troubleshooting
• Participate in on-call rotation duties

Requirements:

• Linux experience.
• Understanding of network protocols and security
• Thrive in a startup environment and enjoy wearing many hats
• Experience with services: nagios, mrtg, dns, dhcp, ldap, kerberos a plus
• Scripting skills (ruby, python, bash)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves:

• BS in Computer Science.
• Experience with AWS, Mesos, Docker, Kubernetes
• Hadoop experience
• Chef or Puppet experience
• Hands on programming skills
• Database experience (sql and nosql)
