Summary

As a member of the Product Management Team, the Product Manager is responsible for requirement gathering, documentation creation and communication facilitation. They are responsible for ensuring business requirements are understood, accurately documented and appropriately delivered. They are responsible for defining, documenting and supporting processes and standards for the Product Management Team and how it interacts with various other entities within and outside of Empyrean.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on a schedule within a well-defined development process
  • Work independently to drive progress on assigned projects
  • Collaborate with operations and IT development resources to collect, communicate and document business requirements
  • Facilitate conversations to build consensus on product direction and design; provide leadership and direction
  • Analyze information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts and create detailed use cases and acceptance criteria; support translation of business-level requirements into technical specifications
  • Understand expectations that were set with clients/stakeholders and recognize and communicate when issues/events may affect delivery or scope
  • Keep project team well informed of changes in requirements and scope
  • Identify and escalate potential project risks to Product Management leadership
  • Help devise logical and innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Provide guidance to quality assurance team to clarify expected functionality
  • Review delivered functionality to ensure it aligns with requirements and document discrepancies
  • Work closely with a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
  • Support the creation of materials to facilitate the roll-out of new and enhanced products and services to the operations teams, including procedural documentation and product descriptions
  • Participate in the release management process to ensure internal- and external-facing documentation and communication are complete, accurate and timely
  • Support Specialty Insurance and Partner Program Development teams within the Product Management Team
    • Document processes and standards associated with each specialty carrier partnership
    • Act as a liaison between Operations and Product Management to ensure standards are implemented
    • Provide project management of new carrier partnership implementations
    • Attend discussions with carriers, act as the first point of contact for escalation of issues/questions related to partnerships and assist in management of open items
    • Assist in management of financials associated with carrier partnerships
Ideal Candidate
  • College degree preferred
  • At least 5 years of product management experience
  • At least 5 years of experience managing projects
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in the use of development methodologies; e.g. Agile, Scrum
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, specifically documentation skills
  • Ability to navigate and work across the organization with associates at different levels and in different functional teams
  • Prior experience in benefit program administration and knowledge of Health and Welfare processes a plus
  • Prior experience in specialty insurance a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-conscious, yet open and flexible to others’ ideas and suggestions
  • Client service-oriented
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a multi-tasking environment
