Senior Product Designer

Demand Media, Inc. (NYSE: DMD) is a diversified Internet company that builds platforms across its media and marketplace properties to enable communities of creators to reach passionate audiences in large and growing lifestyle categories.

Demand Media is looking for a Senior Product Designer with experience concepting and designing consumer­-facing digital products for large audiences. This candidate must be a critical problem solver with a strong visual design background.

• Communicate conceptual ideas and detailed design rationale both verbally and visually in a way that is effective and engaging
• Work directly with the product and engineering teams to concept and design user interfaces and experiences
• Create foundational design patterns, style guides and the visual voice of the product and brand communication.
• Collaborate with and manage a small team of in­house designers and freelancers

• Minimum of 5 years experience
• Experience turning complex problems into simple, and engaging user experiences for web and mobile, including native apps
• Background in developing prototypes, including interactions, animations and transitions
• Ability to brainstorm, sketch, wireframe, and prototype product designs
• Strong understanding of HTML/CSS/JS and other web technologies
• Demonstrated comfort with an iterative design process that includes accepting and acting on feedback and constructive criticism
• Obsessive attention to detail
