DSE Senior Software Engineer

DataStax delivers Apache Cassandra in a database platform purpose built for the performance and availability demands of IOT, web, and mobile applications.

We are looking for a talented engineer with expertise building high-performance, distributed systems to join our team in creating a distributed, scalable big data management platform. In this role you will be working on our flagship product using cutting-edge big data technologies such as Cassandra and Solr/Lucene. Past experience with large-scale software development is required.

- Write great code, innovate, design and drive new features for DataStax Enterprise - Collaborate with the product management, quality engineering, and documentation teams to execute on product deliverables. - Cutting edge work on Apache Cassandra, Lucene and Solr - Implement and resolve customer requests and issues

- 5+ years system or back-end software development experience with Java or equivalent programming language - Passionate about building high performance large scale enterprise software - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a team player with strong analytical, problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills. - Understanding of distributed systems concepts - Comfortable working with large code bases - Comfortable working with a distributed, larger development organization **The stuff that would be nice to have:** - Experience designing multithreaded concurrent large-scale distributed systems - Experience with any of Apache Cassandra, Lucene, or Solr - Understanding of Information Retrieval concepts - Experience developing enterprise software security features: SSL, LDAP/AD, Kerberos, Encryption, Authentication, Authorization, Auditing, etc. - Experience tuning performance for large scale distributed systems - Involvement in open source communities - BS, MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or related major
