Director of Procurement and Supply Chain

As a leader of the Procurement and Supply Chain functions, your role is to design, implement, and manage a centralized purchasing and planning departments. This position is an important member of our team and is crucial in order to streamline our procurement processes as we continue to grow.

• Lead our purchasing organization
• Negotiate with vendors and internal departments by examining price, suitability, and availability of scientific supplies or services
• Review and process all requisitions for materials which are on standing contracts with vendors
• Process requisitions for vendor equipment repairs and small construction repair services and maintenance
• Review orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures
• Organize, update, and retain product information files and purchase order records
• Obtain appropriate office and scientific supplies in a timely manner
• Draft and submit purchase orders with vendors
• Own relationships with vendors
• Streamline purchasing process

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Materials Management, or Life Sciences preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 15+ years of purchasing experience. Experience in a management/supervisory role a plus
• Working knowledge of office procedures and equipment, common business practices relating to the purchase, pricing, terms, shipment, taxes, and payment for laboratory supplies, equipment, and services preferred
• Understanding of principles and practices of centralized purchasing a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
