Payroll Supervisor

This position reports to the Payroll Manager within the finance department. The Payroll Supervisor operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously seeks improvements in operational processes and designs. The Payroll Supervisor conducts work planning, estimation and prioritization to optimize performance of the team and works to define standards and reusable approaches for Payroll operations. This individual manages effective internal/external relationships within own area of responsibility and builds relationships in the wider group or unit.
- Supervise the day-to-day actives within the payroll department, payroll processing, payroll analysis and payroll reporting in accordance with various domestic and international laws and compliance matters
- Ensure accurate and timely payment and reporting of compensation payable to employees
- Remain current on new legislation and regulatory ruling impacting payroll
- Coordinate with various service providers in various jurisdictions
- Enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on required actions
- Review domestic and International payrolls, funding requests, and manual check requests
- Oversee the reconciliation, maintenance and compliance of payroll records, payroll tax filings, logs and files in accordance with company policy and state and federal laws
- Maintain a strong internal controls environment to ensure integrity of the Payroll Administration processes and to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Regulation 404
- Ensure Internal Audit and other external audit requests related to Payroll are met
- Set a tone of collaboration among the payroll team, stakeholders and cross functional teams to provide high quality customer service
- Cross-train employees appropriately to ensure daily back up and coverage of departmental functions
- Provide coaching to staff and is responsible for personal and professional development of staff including the development of goals and objectives for self as well as direct reports
- Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, PTO accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration desired or equivalent work experience
- 10-15 years’ experience processing payroll working with ADP software or similar platform
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices
- Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
- Strong work ethic and team player
- High degree of professionalism
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
- Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
- Ability to communicate with various levels of management
- Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
