The Medical Education Manager, working closely with Medical, Marketing and Sales will lead the development and implementation of brand-specific medical education plans. The Manager will have a deep understanding of the science and education needs of the multidisciplinary health care professionals. He or she will develop and ensure implementation of effective medical educational strategies and tactics.
- Builds and implements medical education processes in compliance with Celgene guidelines, thus ensuring events meet the needs of our customers and adhere to principles of adult learning; positioning Celgene as the leader in HemOnc; and that are always on strategy, ensuring that improving patient outcomes are a priority.
- In conjunction with Medical, Marketing, and Sales, identifies the needs of our customers, develops and leads the implementation of a national medical education plan for selected therapeutic areas and brand.
- Develop relationships within key Institutions and individuals to facilitate accredited medical education programs that maximize Celgene educational objectives and provide innovative learning opportunities.
- Develops creative initiatives that are in alignment with business needs and add value to HCPs supporting them in providing excellent care.
- Proactively anticipates changes in the environment and adapts the educational plan to meet changing needs, helping colleagues keep abreast of these changes.
- Monitors new scientific developments and facilitates the translation of research into clinical practice via educational initiatives.
- Identifies, analyzes and interprets scientific literature in order to be able to provide accurate, scientifically balanced medical information and recommendations for program development.
- Evaluates and selects Medical Education and logistic agencies and manages these vendor relationships to get the best value for our spend.
- Demonstrates deep knowledge of therapeutic area and Celgene products and relevant competitors.
- Engages in continuous learning within the therapeutic area.

- BSc. or MSc. with minimum 5 years in a medical education leadership role preferred, with at least 3 of these years in specialty area, oncology or hematology preferred.
- Ability to lead and facilitate effective cross functional collaboration and maximize educational initiatives.
- Advanced understanding of adult learning principles and how to apply them.
- Strong knowledge of the health care system and expert in the medical education environment including recent rule changes in Canada, and changes as they apply to working with international KOLs.
- Proven strategic and tactical planning abilities.
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must have the ability to meet job tasks & project deadlines and organize workloads for successful project implementation.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; proven ability to interact closely and build relationships with International, National and Regional KOLs.
- Strong scientific/medical background, ideally in oncology/hematology.
- Able to interact with a diverse group of corporate teams to maximize communication, strategic development and program implementation.
- Proven ability to source, and effectively manage third party agencies ensuring outcomes are achieved on time and on budget.
- The ability to function as an effective team member is essential.
