Manager, Counsel - Regulatory Advisory

Capital One Financial Corporation, incorporated in July 21, 1994, is a diversified banking company focused primarily on consumer and commercial lending and deposit origination. Its principal business segments are Local Banking and National Lending.

• Managing multiple state collection litigation portfolios
• Overseeing collection law firms acting on Capital One’s behalf
• Drafting, interpreting, applying, and enforcing internal policies and procedures
• Becoming an expert in federal and state collection and consumer protections laws and regulatory expectations
• Analyzing new and emerging debt collection laws and regulations and advising on adherence
• Identifying, assessing, and working closely with the business to mitigate risks associated with Legal Recoveries

Basic Qualifications:

• At least a JD with state bar admission or military experience

• At least 3 years of law firm experience OR at least 3 years government experience, OR at least 3 years of in-house legal department work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of, and proficiency with, consumer protection and collections laws (e.g.; FDCPA, FCRA, UDAAP, and state debt collection laws)
