Responsibilities
  • The mission of the technical writer is to actively gather information from engineers, QA representatives, and product managers in order to write documentation for the Calypso software with the objective of making the life of the customer easier: software user guides, reference manuals, and release notes.
  • The writing process should be very systematic and the writer should execute all the functions of the applications that he or she is assigned, in order to fully document them. For example, the writer should select all the menu items, try all the buttons, and enter data in all the fields. The writer should report any issue that he or she has encountered, and should ask all the questions necessary to complete the task. More specifically, the writer should apply the layout guidelines and templates, and organize the document in an intuitive and consistent fashion.
  • The writer will pay a lot of attention to details and will review his or her documents.
  • For release notes, the writer should document all the bugs that have been fixed, and should provide documentation for the major enhancements.
  • The writer will use file control system tools for maintaining versions of the documents, desktop publishing tools for writing the documents, and take snapshots of the software applications for illustrating the explanations.
Ideal Candidate
  • BA in languages and / or BS in computer sciences.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional technical writing experience.
  • Strong writing and desktop publishing skills, as well as excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide written output that is accurate, concise, free of grammatical errors, and follows a logical progression.
  • Strong teamwork skills, self-starter, and proven record of completing projects on time.
