Marketing Manager

(Sacramento, California)The California Dental Association is the largest statewide dental association in the country.
In collaboration with VP of Marketing and key stakeholders, develops and executes the marketing plans and strategies for The Dentists Insurance Company (TDIC) and its brokerage, TDIC Insurance Solutions, owned by the California Dental Association. This includes the development of the marketing, media and supporting promotional plans for sales, risk management and service to include budget preparation, periodic business analysis, and the day-to-day execution of the plan(s). This position acts as subject matter expert for program communications, initiates development of collateral material with in-house Creative/Design team, monitors project budgets and reports on program metrics.
- Works with internal key stakeholders to develop, manage and execute marketing plans based on best practices, market research and members’ needs, including the development of objectives, strategies and tactics
- Works with Marketing Insight and Research team as well as key stakeholders in the identification of key performance indicators and ensures development of tracking mechanisms for analysis of current and potential business opportunities/situations
- Stay abreast of developments and changes in the insurance and technology industries; analyze surveys, market studies, and competition; when necessary report on findings.
- Ensures key messaging is consistent with brand standards (content and image)
- Manages the development of internal and external program corporate collateral, collaborating with all appropriate internal business partners (i.e., membership marketing and contact service center, program directors, project managers) to execute initiatives in support of business goals and objectives
- Creates, updates and manages detailed planning documents to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and within the scope of work
- Functions as the marketing liaison with TDIC and TDIC Insurance Solutions. This includes his/her ability to garner the business unit’s confidence to successfully identify the marketing strategy and execute against the strategy
- Directs marketing support resources to ensure tactical deployment of all activities, adherence to deadlines and fulfillment of projects
- Responsible for managing issue escalation and resolution, as needed, to ensure movement and on-time completion of projects
- Participates in departmental meetings; determine most cost-effective and efficient means to execute marketing projects, including time schedules and aids in helping to define and improve processes
- Advances the developments and changes in the association environment; analyze surveys, market studies, and competition; when necessary report on findings
- Oversight of all electronic and print based marketing materials, including presentations, reports, ad copy and direct mail correspondence as it pertains directly to their projects
- Makes regular presentations to client, management team and organization

Education/Licenses/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related experience; minimum 5 years of experience in a marketing or advertising agency environment, product management, or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Experience with insurance companies, non-profit associations and/or charitable organizations a preferred.

- Experience planning and executing multi-channel advertising campaigns and marketing programs
- Ability to identify and translate goals and objectives into strategies, plans and tactics
- Strong project, analytical, communication and time management skills
- Project management and facilitation experience desired.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Exercise a high degree of initiative, independence and flexibility.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a variety of projects simultaneously, and balance priorities within varied timelines
- Requires time management skills with demonstrated ability to problem-solve and multi-task
- Demonstrated experience and confidence in presenting campaigns or program plans to all levels
- Experience building and managing client-vendor relationships
- Proven track record working with various cross-functional, internal and external groups to deliver meaningful results on time and on budget
- Experience with business writing and copy editing using AP Style Guide
- A solid understanding and demonstrated experience with marketing concepts and brand principles
- Experience analyzing and interpreting market data
- General knowledge of health care and/or insurance industry and association terminology preferred profession terminology preferred
- Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills required
- Must demonstrate diplomacy and tact while interacting with all levels within and outside of the organization
- Requires computer skills, including the ability to operate Windows/ Microsoft Office with knowledge of web-based applications.
