Lead Industrial Designer

• We are seeking talented, self-motivated Industrial Designer to join our Media office, just 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia.

• You will join an energetic team working on all phases of design and development.

• Boston Device Development (BDD) is a product development firm with offices in Media, PA and Newton, MA.

• We work with companies to commercialize new technologies for medical, commercial and industrial applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop design concepts through sketching, physical form development (i.e. foam), CAD modeling, vector-based illustrations and other formats

• Participate in user research activities to define opportunity areas, understand user motivations / constraints, gain user preferences related to design concepts, and to validate selected design pathways

• Define product aesthetics through form development and color-material-finish specification

• Collaborate with engineering team to ensure that design concepts are realistic given functional and manufacturing requirements

• Lead ID-focused conversations and presentations with clients

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design
• 5+ years of hands-on product design experience (consulting environment highly preferred)
• Proficient in 2D (sketching, markers, Adobe Suite) and 3D (Solidworks, Rhino, KeyShot)
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
• Extensive experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams (design, research, marketing, regulatory, manufacturing)
• Familiarity with basic model shop tools and procedures
