Responsibilities

Lead architecture/design, technology selection and implementation of a data platform over Big Data technologies
Drive innovation by exploring, investigating, recommending, benchmarking and implementing data-centric technologies for the platform
Contribute to the technical design efforts - ensuring the system design meets scalability andperformance requirements
Provide technical mentorship for junior engineers on new technologies and development techniques
Be the technical architect for our data platform.

Ideal Candidate

- Experience designing/developing scalable, available, systems
- Hands-on experience with the Hadoop stack (MapReduce Programming Paradigm, HBase, Pig, Hive, Sqoop) and/or key-value store technologies such as Cassandra
- Hands-on experience with administration, configuration management, monitoring, debugging, benchmarking and performance tuning of Hadoop/Cassandra
- B.S. or M.S. in in a relevant technical field, or 4+ years experience in a relevant role; a strong econometric background
- Experience with high-scale or distributed RDBMS (e.g. Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum, Aster Data, Vertica) a plus
- Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. Amazon Web Services EC2, Elastic MapReduce) and considerations for scalable, distributed systems a plus
- Persistent key/linking experience a plus
- A passion for Big Data technologies and a flexible, creative approach to problem solving
- Experience working with large data sets, experience working with distributed computing tools a plus (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.)
- An eagerness to be a mentor to and a member of a dynamic, inquisitive, fun-loving team.
