Industrial Designer

The Product Design group has a passion for pioneering innovative ceiling solutions. We create industry leading aesthetic and mechanical ceiling solutions that solve meaningful problems for our customers. We do this by keeping a pulse on global architectural and product design trends, by constantly pursuing a better understanding of the specification and build process, and by synthesizing new concepts that anticipate and respond to the need for inspirational spaces.

• Lead industrial design activities for front end exploration and new product development projects
• Create forward thinking concepts that push the boundaries of current manufacturing capabilities and speak to anticipated or emerging architectural trends
• Create market-driven designs based upon ideation, market research, trends, and product requirements
• Conceptualize and communicate ideas verbally and graphically
• Develop 3D CAD models and design control drawings of refined concepts
• Provide hands-on support to build sample components and lead the physical assembly of prototype installations

• A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design
• Highly developed sketching, ideation and brainstorming skills.
• A high level of mechanical aptitude, a good understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Expertise with Illustrator and Photoshop
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with solid modeling using parametric 3D CAD software
• Experience using Autodesk Inventor software
• Experience with architect specified installed product
• Familiarity with architectural materials including engineered substrates, solid and veneered wood, formed sheet metal, and aluminum extrusions
