Summary

The Research Chemist is responsible for providing hands-on support in the development of new applications for organic peroxides. He/she will be responsible for assembly of formulations, including those with polymeric materials, and carrying out chemical and physical tests to understand formulation-property relationships. The Research Chemist (Organic Peroxides) may furthermore interact with technical, commercial or manufacturing collaborators, and customers. The position is located at Arkema's Corporate Offices and R&D Center in King of Prussia, PA.

Responsibilities
  • Assembling formulations containing organic peroxides
  • Mixing organic peroxide formulations with polymers, monomers, elastomers or other materials under commercially-relevant conditions, and processing them under reactive or non-reactive conditions.
  • Running routine physical and chemical analyses of the produced materials, including rheology, thermal, and mechanical testing
  • Recording, documenting and analyzing experimental data.
Ideal Candidate
  • Master’s degree with 3+ years industrial experience (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years industrial experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field (or equivalent work experience) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely handle and work with hazardous materials.
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight within a chemical laboratory environment is critical.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong safety practices and techniques is a plus, as is familiarity with experimental design.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate working within a team environment and to communicate the results to both internal and external customers
